Springboard
The Springboard Project is a community-based learning project aimed at adults (16 plus) living in Monkton. All courses are free and run out of various community venues in Monkton including Monkton Priory School and the Community Centre. The aim of the project is to encourage residents to engage in learning, maybe for the first time since leaving school, to raise their skills and better their job prospects.

Springboard is part-funded by Communities First in Monkton and has been a tremendous success in its first year.
Springboard has given the people of Monkton the chance to learn many new skills including Beauty Therapy, Cookery, Welsh, IT and Welding as well as practical help with form filling etc.
Helen Banner and Claire Arnold are co-ordinating the project and are based at Monkton Priory School. The staff from the school provide excellent support to the project.
Courses have included; reading, writing and spelling, beginners Welsh, Sugarcraft, Driving Test theory, Salsa dancing, How to use a digital camera and Site Safety Pass Training to name just a few.
The Communities First team work closely with the Springboard staff and monitor the project for the Partnership. They also inform Springboard of any feedback on training ideas from the community.
Springboard is having a real and lasting effect in raising the confidence skills and aspirations of Monkton residents, which is a key aim of the Communities First Programme.
